We took our dog to Northridge to have his leg amputated due to osteosarcoma. This was against our better judgement as we had a friend who took his dog here for a leg surgery and they operated on the wrong leg! But our dog needed this amputation ASAP and Northridge called me back first out of all of the clinics I called. The consultation with the doctor went well. She gave us an estimate of what the surgery was going to cost and let us know that the cost included a certain number of rehabilitation sessions. We left him at the clinic at 8am and did not hear from anyone all day. I finally called around 4pm and was told surgery was just starting and someone would call me. Finally got an update from the doctor in the evening and she said everything went well. The next day we go to pick him up and met with a vet tech who was less than personable. She actually seemed annoyed that we had even done this surgery for our dog repeatedly stating “well he’s a big dog…” like yeah, I know he’s a big dog, so what is the point? We knew that recovery may be more difficult for him than say, a toy poodle, but we love him and want to give him good quality of life for whatever time he has left. When checking out and paying our bill the person at the front desk was quick to tell us that our dog would not be able to come there for rehab since he will be doing chemo. The doctor knew we were planning on doing chemo and said nothing about not being able to do rehab. He is doing his chemo at KState and the doctor there said there is no reason he can’t do rehab while he is receiving chemo. The front desk person said “Maybe he can do his rehab at KState”. So 2.5 hours from me instead of 15 minutes, got it. Also our bill was higher than the estimate from the doctor when I would have thought it would be much lower since he is not getting the rehab sessions I was told were included in the estimate. When our dog was discharged the tech said she would bring him into the room we were in. We sat there for a little bit and then she came in and said “It was just easier to bring him out here”. And we walked out and they had him laying on the floor by the front door. My significant other had to pick up our 120 lb dog and carry him to our vehicle without assistance from any of their staff. It was like ok here he is, ‘bye. We had to take him in for a one week post op visit and met with the same vet tech. I would have thought the doctor would want to check him but I’m a healthcare provider for humans and apparently standards are lower for animals than humans. The visit took all of five minutes and could have been a phone call. The only thing I was impressed with was the doctor’s surgical work. Our dog’s incision looked amazing and healed nicely. Our dog ended up with GDV 13 days post op and we took him to the animal hospital in Wichita for emergency surgery and had the most caring and compassionate staff there.
Although I got completely devastating news, Dr Brittany could not have been more compassionate throughout the whole appointment. She sat on the floor with me and my baby to explain in the most gentle way possible that she had cancer. She also personally called me to check on her after the weekend. That kind of care for a member of the family is priceless.
Fine for routine visits but the rehab is very sub-par. The underwater treadmill water is dirty and smells awful, so if your dog lives inside you will want to find somewhere else.
Dr. Britney is the most caring and compassionate vet we've ever had. She has always treated us like family and made our dogs feel comfortable during their visits.
Our dog had been in the process of having two different surgeries done. I have honestly never been so stressed in my life as a pet mom, but this clinic has helped ease my mind on literally everything. The entire staff is extremely kind and caring. They explain everything in a way that's easy to understand. My dog is much more relaxed here than any other clinic we've been too. If they weren't so far from our home this would be our regular clinic!
Recently I took my dog to for a scratch on his eye. It cost me $450. All together. My moms dog had an ear infection, she knew what it was. To diagnose him the vet put her dog to sleep(and didn’t even pull a tooth that needed I) it cost close to the same, &450. Includ. antibiotic. When i took my Dog in fór the last búšiť. A tech with piercings &
Tattoos all over her. Would not stop talking about a medication she thought I owed them for. Then she took him to the back and they came back in in about 60 sec. I looked surprised &dhe said. The infection is gone. I was uncomfortable & she said, the Dr was back there with me & she looked in his eye too. Then she made me pay for a Med I had already paid for $40. Now I have to call the off mgr & try to get my money back & complain )$40 for tech to look in his eye also. They’re all about ripping off their customers!! Never again for us.
This place is a top notch facility! Recently my 1.5 year old Pitbull had to get TPLO surgery. They have been so helpful through this whole process. Everyone is in this place is extremely nice and are very knowledgeable. If you are looking for somewhere for dog acl surgery, I highly recommend this place. It’s worth the price 100%.
Today! We found the BEST place for our fur babies. I cannot say enough good things from check in to check out. I almost lost it when Dr. Amy came in and introduce herself then got down on the floor for the examination and stayed there to make Dozer feel comfortable. On his level. For him!
This is definitely the place for us!
Thank you all for all the recommendations ❤️
